The secondary level (upper secondary school, district school, secondary school, junior high school) provides a basic general education. It prepares students for vocational training (apprenticeship) or for transfer to upper secondary schools such as baccalaureate schools, cantonal schools, grammar schools, vocational secondary schools or specialized secondary schools (FMS).
