Acupuncture / TCM
Acupuncture is one of five treatment methods of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), one of the oldest healing systems in the world. Acupuncture is used to treat disease and maintain health, and can be used broadly for health issues. Acupuncturists stimulate energetic points on the body with fine needles to regulate body systems.
Natural medicine, Chinese medicine/acupuncture (including Chinese massage Tuina), traditional naturopathy, Western medicine (anatomy, physiology, pathology, clinical medicine, psychology). Depending on the training institution, the offer may vary.
In most cases, the training lasts 3-4 years and is completed on a part-time basis.
A completion of upper secondary education, e.g. vocational apprenticeship or Matura. Requirements may vary depending on the educational institution.
After graduating, students can take the Higher Professional Examination for Naturopaths, leading to a federal diploma. Admissions are regulated on a cantonal basis.
After training, a wide range of job opportunities is open to you. In addition to having your own practice, it is also possible to be employed by a healthcare institution (hospital, rehab clinic, pain center). Treatments by accredited therapists are reimbursed by the supplementary insurance. Regular continuing education must be demonstrated in order to maintain licensure.
