<p>In biomedical sciences and medical biology, complex diseases such as cancer, diabetes or immune deficiencies are researched. In addition, therapeutic and preventive treatments are developed. Biomedical engineering uses engineering knowledge to develop all kinds of devices that help doctors and patients. These include, for example, hearing or glucose meters or microscopes.</p>

<p>In these fields of study, the focus is primarily on humans (or animals). Diseases, disabilities and other limitations of the human (or animal) body are studied. Some majors, such as human, veterinary or dental medicine, can only be studied at a university. The university of applied sciences is suitable for people who are interested in studying or continuing their education as a midwife, physical or occupational therapist, for example.</p>
