Top athletes are often on a dual path. Choosing the right training facility and early career planning are important to design the top sports career optimally and to create the best possible prospects for the time after that - a challenge that requires a good cooperation of the entire environment of the athletes.
That's why Swiss Olympic is committed to a targeted and sustainable development of coordinated training offers in Switzerland within the framework of optimal support for (youth) performance and elite athletes and awards the quality labels "Swiss Olympic Sport School", "Swiss Olympic Partner School" and "Performance sports friendly training company" and runs the "Elite Sports and Study" program.
The certified «Swiss Olympic Sport Schools» are competence centres with a basic attitude that promotes competitive sport. They combine sport, school, training facilities and accommodation under one roof. Special sports classes, qualified trainers, boarding school operation and supplementary sport-specific training enable athletes to receive a qualified sports education in a unique environment specific to competitive sports. At the same time, they ensure that the school's performance goals are achieved in accordance with the requirements of the canton where the school is located.
A coordinator supports the athletes in their time management and guarantees a systemic cooperation between the educational institution, the sports partners (e.g. local sports club, national/regional sports association), the parents and the athlete.
