Which degree programs or courses are available in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship?

With a bachelor's degree in business administration or a bachelor's degree in business administration or business economics, you can major in innovation and entrepreneurship. The focus is on learning skills for innovative action in an existing company or even in a startup. Graduates of this program can also complete the Master's degree in Business Administration, Major Innovation and Entrepreneurship. This will give you the opportunity to work in innovation management or as a project manager in business development. 

In the area of continuing education, you can complete a CAS Innovation & Leadership or a MAS Digital Transformation at ZHAW, among others. The BFH, on the other hand, offers a CAS Innovation, which deals with the latest findings in innovation and entrepreneurship. BFH also offers an EMBA in Innovation Management. This is particularly suitable for managers.

What are the focus areas?

In the Bachelor's program, students deal with the following modules: Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Models and Instruments for Entrepreneurial Success, Analysis of Business Models and Potentials for Success. In addition, students acquire the ability to develop and present business ideas and business plans during their studies. 

In the further education area, the focus is more on modules such as creativity and innovation skills, financing of innovation projects and business model innovation. Your business management knowledge will also be deepened both in your studies and in the continuing education courses. 

How long does the study or continuing education take?

Depending on the field of study or type of school, the duration of the training differs. The bachelor's program can be completed full-time or part-time model and usually lasts between 3 and 4 years. The workload is 180 ects- points. In the case of a master's program, the duration is around 2 years, i.e. 90-120 ects- points. In the case of continuing education courses, the duration can vary greatly: a CAS, for example, takes around 13 course days, while an MAS takes around 2.5 years.

How much does the training cost?

Depending on the educational institution, a bachelor's degree or a master's degree costs between 4,200.- and 5,600.- Swiss francs. Tuition fees are paid per semester and range from 700.- to 900.- francs. 

For continuing education courses, the costs are somewhat higher: while a CAS costs an average of 7,500 francs, the cost of an MAS is 20,000 to 40,000 francs. For a distance learning program at AKAD University Germany, you have to expect total tuition fees of between 15,000-20,000 francs.

What are the admission requirements?

As a rule, a vocational baccalaureate must be presented for the study and, if necessary, an additional 1 year of practical experience is required. Depending on the university, other or additional admission requirements may be required. For most continuing education programs, a university degree and several years of work experience are required.

Vocations and careers after graduation

Among other things, the following career fields are open to graduates of a degree program or continuing education in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship: Founding companies or startups, management in various industries, management consulting and fundraising.

Wage after graduation

In Switzerland, a salary of between 78,000 and 115,000 Swiss francs is possible, but this varies depending on the industry, degree and position.
