Als eigenständiges Institut Unterstrass, das mit der Pädagogischen Hochschule Zürich (PHZH) zusammenarbeitet, setzt es auf überschaubare Strukturen, viel Kontakt zu Kindern und auf engagiertes Mitwirken. Das Angebot umfasst Studiengänge für angehende Kindergärtner/-innen und Primarlehrpersonen. Das Institut Unterstrass erarbeitet viele neue Unterrichtsformen und setzt diese in der Praxis um. Ebenfalls bietet das Institut Unterstrass diverse Weiterbildungs-Angebote an.
