In addition, the basics of business administration, such as accounting or business law, are also part of the study content Depending on the place of training and the course, the modules may differ.

For a bachelor's degree, the training takes about 3 years, or 6 semesters, in full-time study. Part-time, the training takes correspondingly longer.

For continuing education in the insurance industry, the duration can vary greatly. For example, if you want to do further training as an insurance economist HF, the training takes about 2-4 years. In the case of a professional examination or a higher specialist examination, the duration is 1-3 years.

For a bachelor's degree program at a university of applied sciences or university, you have to expect costs of around 750.- to 900 francs per semester. For continuing education courses, the costs are somewhat higher: when attending a higher technical school, the costs are between 10,000 and 50,000 francs and a professional examination or higher technical examination costs in most cases between 5,000 and 15,000 francs.

For admission to a bachelor's degree program at a university of applied sciences, a vocational baccalaureate, a high school diploma or a specialized baccalaureate is required. For studies at a university of applied sciences, you will need practical experience specific to the study program in the form of 12 months of work experience, depending on the program. The recognition of practical experience should be clarified with the respective educational institution. With a diploma from a recognized higher technical college in the occupation-specific field, you will be admitted without an examination in most cases.

In the case of continuing education courses, a few years of professional experience is usually required for admission, and in certain cases a university degree must also be presented.

Graduates of this course can work in the following industries, among others: Private insurance, health and accident insurance, reinsurance, or in employee benefits. Insurance specialists who have a federal certificate of proficiency as a degree can take on middle management positions.

Depending on the industry, company and position, the average salary is around CHF 60,000 to 100,000 per year.
